HD-PVR flesh tone problems

So the main thing I'm recording right now on my HD-PVR is Eureka on the SciFi channel. Something I've noticed, and I'm not sure how to figure out where the problem is, is that the flesh tones in all of my recorded episodes has a bit of a green tint to it.

My TV is calibrated correctly - all other channels from other tuners, and as far as I can tell everything else from the HD-PVR, looks great. So what could be causing this? Has anyone seen issues with their HD-PVR and flesh tone?

btl.

I too record Eureka every week with my HD PVR hooked up to a DirecTV receiver. My fleshtones are fine so it's not a point of origin signal issue. Might be your sat/cable co. Is it that way every week? Have you watched the program on screen via HDMI while the YPbPr is recording? If so, Do you see the colorshift thru HDMI as well?

I haven't had a chance to check the color coming from my Dish STB - We're a few weeks behind on viewing Eureka - so I've just been letting them accumulate. It has been on just about every show in the new season.

Good to know it's probably not the source. Might be an HDMI issue.....

Yes, I have the problem.

Adjusting Color Calibrations for the HD-PVR in Sage does not seem to remove the HULK effect where everyone is Green (BRAVOHD). Skin tone looks fine from the same receiver by composite cables.

By the way R5000-HD does have normal skin tone on this channel (with a different receiver).

Thanks for reminding me, I was going to post a reminder thread:
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...998#post304998

But HDnet is running their test patterns Saturday morning, might be worthwhile to take a moment to check the calibration settings against some truely reference material.

I haven't had a chance to test a lot yet - do you view your recordings from HD-PVR over HDMI? PC Client or Extender? I'm assuming you are on Dish since you mention the R5000.....

If I can compile some data I'll try to get the Hauppauge guys involved in finding the answer.

Dish VIP211K >> Component cables >> HD-PVR >> Composite cables >> TV

Live TV and recordings have HULK effect when viewed from Server, HD-100, or Client.

It would appear to create the Hulk effect when encoding the source to H.264, because the source does not show the green-ness.

PROBLEM SOLVED - Red component cable had pull out from the back of the HD-PVR.

Went to change the cable for troubleshooting of this problem and found red component cable not fully inserted, reconnected and verified the HULK effect is gone.
