Licensing question

Hey,

I sent an email to support@sagetv and didn't get a response so I'll post it here.

I had a question for you regarding placeshifter. I was wondering if I bought the combo sagetv + placeshifter if the placeshifter software could be installed on more than one system? I have my desktop (server) hidden away in the basement but I’d like to be able to watch TV on my laptop and on the desktop in the office. Is this possible or would I be required to buy more than once license?

Thanks,

Tyler

I believe the licensing is per concurrent connection to the server so you can install it on multiple PCs but only be using one at a time. But for what you are doing a Client license would be better than Placeshifter as you are still on your LAN. Unless you want the option of also streaming over the internet.

See this FAQ. You can install Placeshifter in multiple places & the number of Placeshifter licenses you need is the number of simultaneous Placeshifter connections you want to be able to use.

Music: Yes
Videos: Yes (but not DVD rips on placeshifter)

I think everything else is equal as far as use on a laptop.

(BTW, I think that placeshifter is the way to go)
