That can all be done in the Total Media Extreme software configuration screen. (Not Sage)

What do you mean by explicitly? You can choose the default recording quality settings overall and/or for an individual tuner in Detaield Setup -> Multimedia.

You can also create custom recording qualities; see this topic for one discussion about the HD-PVR:

... which is not on all HD-PVRs, including mine. My HD-PVRs are blingless.

I have Bling. Looks like somebody pimped my HD-PVR when the thing is recording. I would like to know how to turn them off as well.

Lights

I have an interesting thing with the blue lights and red light on front of HD PVR

When I make a recording through the HD PVR in SAGE the bling lights do not come on or the red indicator light on front. The output file is a .ts file.

When I do the same using TME the lights come on and the red indicator light comes on .

The output file is actually the same in eather case both saved as .TS files.

Any body know why or wat the difference is.

Thanks

Ed

I'm currently trying out Sage, and stumbled upon this thread, which doesn't seem to fully conclude whether you can somehow disable the "bling" within Sage.

I know that I can disable the bling via the filter property sheet (acessible e.g. using TME or Graphedit), and that setting would stick for a while. But it goes away after a reboot (and restart of the hd-pvr), and the shiny blue is back.

Since you can control bitrates via settings like
mmc/python2_encoding/HDPVRMax=videobitrate\=13500000|vbr\=1|outputstreamtype\=1
is there also a parameter that controls this bling?

No. There is no setting in Sage for the bling.
