SageMC Problems

I have been having this problem, and I have done everything I know to fix it.

I had been running Sage 6.4 with the default STV and quite a few imports for a few months without any issues.

I decided to load SageMC 6.3.8, and it worked ok for a few days, but then I started getting the wheel of death. I turned on debugging, and from what I can tell, the culprit is this:

Quote:
Fri 11/21 12:06:26.318 Error communicating with server:java.lang.NullPointerException
Fri 11/21 12:06:26.318 Cleaning up c/s connection
Fri 11/21 12:06:26.318 NetworkManager CommunicationFailure : /127.0.0.1:1227 type=1
Fri 11/21 12:06:26.318 MsgSend thread terminating for /127.0.0.1:1227
Sometimes the port number is different, but the wording is the same.

I tried everything I know to fix it, including uninstalling Sage, removing the directory, re-installing Sage with no other modifications copying my wiz.bin back, and loading SageMC. The only additional modification I have is that I am running the nBlue theme.

I was using JRE 1.6_4, and updated to 1.6_10, but that did not help either.

Any ideas?

I should also add, that when I go back to the copy of Sage that does not contain SageMC I do not have this problem either.

In case anyone else has this problem, to fix it I stopped running Sage as a service.

I still think it is a problem with SageMC, but I am happy that I found a work-around.

My guess is that more people don't report this problem because they are not running Sage in service mode so that they can run the Netflix plugin.

Strange. I'm not getting that error (or any problems for that matter) with the latest SageMC. Has anyone asked Dirk or MeinMaui about this yet to see if they have any suggestions?

Well, you're asking everyone and that includes us. So technically you're correct.

Anyway, the only thing I can think of is that you may have some underlying network problems that only appear when using SageMC. I'm guessing SageMC is a bit more demanding of the network than the default STV. Here are a couple of things to try out.

Try minimizing the number of switches between your server and client (or even try a direct connection with a crossover cable). Try changing out cables (one could be bad). You can also post your debug log here. There might be some other clues in there.

Also, what OS are you running on your server?

Aloha,
Mike
