I have this board as a client. The sound is just amazing (the amplified version)! I highly recommend it to most anyone looking for great sound - and it is dirt cheap for what you get!

yeah, I have the board too.

It has simplified my setup a lot and the sound is pretty crazy for what it costs.

With the 5 channel amp some people had to say
Quote:
I just built a system with the 5.1 amp card, it will be replacing my Panasonic XR57. I'm still playing around with it, but so far its at least equal to the performance of that unit so I'm pretty sure it will sound loads better than your JVC. What really surprised me is how dead quiet this thing is with no signal playing, no hiss, pops, crackles, nothing. Would have never thought this was possible within the confines of a PC.
.....
I appreciate you sharing this info. I am very excited about this build, it is currently slated to replace the following components

Integra DTR 7.4 $1200
Toshiba HDA30 HDDVD player $250
Sony BDP300 Bluray $400

Pretty impressive that a sub 200 dollar mobo and amp card can deliver performance rivaling that of the components listed. I am not counting any of the ancillary components, because to be honest it is replacing an existing HTPC that was tied into my 61" LED DLP, it was being used for Sage / DVD / Music all being fed by a 3TB WHS in my basement. It was a very workable solution, but I wanted to eliminate components and get rid of a bunch of wires.

The only downside is I had to give up 2 ch of surround, I had a complete 7.1 setup. It's too bad the amp card could not accommodate the full 7.1 setup.

That all being said I am thrilled so far with the results.

With the pre-amp this is what someone had to say
Quote:
MSI diva 7411 7.1 pre-amp mobo
AMD phenom 9650 x4
All media ripped to hard drive
Arcsoft TMT
Sony HS-20 720p projector - 134 inch screen

I watched parts of Iron Man br, Hairspray br, Elton John 60 br, Eagles live hddvd, Matrix hddvd, Across the Universe br

It was impossible for me to hear or see the difference between the bitstreaming stand alones and the htpc with analog out.
The output from this board looks and sounds fantastic!
