DIRECTV2PC from new HD Extender

I noticed when browsing the network for video the hd200 extender found my Directv hdpvr. it even found folders for each show that I watched. Has anyone gotten video from their directv hd dvrs to play via sage? It looks like that might be something that could be done.

When browsing it finds folders that are part of the this directv2pc feature

I dont know if directv locks that down though so you can only view via their application.

So did you try to play one of the recorded shows from one of those directv2pc folders?

there was a folder for each recording but in the folders was only a text file (well at least that sage could see).

The DirecTV PVRs employ a special content protection scheme called DTCP. I think that even though you can see the info, you would need special codecs to view them.

that is what I was thinking... but with the new extender having a standalone mode it would be great to be able to connect right to a directv pvr.

there is a small article on that copy protection here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital...ent_Protection

not sure what sage's goal is in regards to promoting serverless systems but with the HD200 having a few features that work without a server it seems that is within their business model.

It seems that in order for sage to get this data they would need to be part of the DTCP club which might require them to restrict the data in a way that goes against how their system is designed(no place shifters).
