Must the HDPVR be directly attached to Sage Server?
I'm considering adding the Hauppauge HDPVR as an additional tuner to my Sage system. My tuners are currently an R5000 Fios STB and HDHR. If I do add the HDPVR, it will be for my D* receiver. However my D* receiver is no where near my Sage Server, but is located by a Sage Client. I know that the HDPVR must be connected via USB. So my question is if there's any way to run the HDPVR not being directly connected to the Sage Server and somehow network the program back to the Sage Server.
Thanks,

You could run a second copy of SageTV (full, not client) on the HTPC and set it up as an encoding server with the HD PVR.

You will need to by a second sage server license and set it up on the client machine as a Network Encoder that the main server will access to make recordings. Have have this seup runing with my second HDPVR and it has been running perfectly now for more than a week without missing a recording.

Was thinking of doing the same thing. I have an R5000 that is setup as a network encoder - but of course that uses the supplied R5000 recording program.
I have SageRecorder on this second PC. Can that be used to record from the HDPVR? |

No, only SageTV (Media Center) supports the HDPVR.

My setup is exactly as described (two HDPVR's on a network encoder). Works well.
