Sage TV v6.5.5 RC WHS + HD-PVR Playback Exception

All, I'm hoping that I can get some help, here. I'm trying desperately to get my new HD-PVR unit to work with the latest version of Sage on Windows Home Server. When I'm selecting Component + SPDIF and waiting for a preview from the HD-PVR, I get:

There was a Playback Error in playback. Details:
sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-5,0x80040200):
There was a problem rendering the audio portion of the content for playback.

From reading the forums, this sounds like an audio codec issue, but I'm not sure how to fix it. Codecs are a huge problem with Windows Home Server in general, because most of the codecs are written for XP or Vista.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also, I just got a BD-ROM drive for this HTPC, and am having a very difficult time trying to find a WHS Blu-Ray codec.

I'm not running the beta but I am running WHS. Try switching your video renderer from VMR9 to overlay or vice-versa. If that doesn't help, try selecting a different audio renderer...

I tried that, and all of the different audio renderers available in configuration, and I'm still getting the same error.

do you have TME installed on your WHS? Its video decoder is required.

Excuse the ignorance, but what is TME? Is this something that needs to be done separately from Sage?

TME-Total Media Extreme. It's the Arcsoft software that comes on the CD with the HD-PVR. This is the h.264 decoder and also allows you to change options on the HD-PVR. You should install it on the machine that the HD-PVR is connect to. And any client PC that you want to be able to play back recorded files from that device. You should follow the installation instructionsn that come with the HD-PVR.

OK, I:
1. Uninstalled SageTV and removed the install folder.
2. Installed ArcSoft Total Media Extreme, and updated the program to the latest code.
3. Reinstalled SageTV for WHS, and re-ran through configuration.
4. Removed and rebuilt the HD-PVR video source.

I have tried different configuration options, but now I'm getting upon selecting Component + SPDIF:
sage.PlaybackException: ERROR(-4,0x80040217):
There was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback.

When I try to record in TME, I get a popup error:
The device is not available, or being used by another application. Please close any applications that might be using the device and try again.

I had stopped the SageTV service prior to that.

TME is not required to record using the HD-PVR. I have been using a HD-PVR on my WHS for months without TME being installed.

How did you verify the setup w/o TME?

Do you have another PC you can try it out on?

FWIW, I had a similar problem and had to RMA it...

Yes. I just re-installed those drivers just in case, and am now again rebooting.

Same error (-4,0x80040217).

FYI, the "record" light is coming on while Sage is trying to generate a preview, so the HD-PVR is being controlled correctly.

I am removing ArcSoft TME and going back to just SageTV for WHS. I'm going to back out the beta, and revert to the latest regular release of the software.

I noticed that ArcSoft doesn't support TME on Windows Home Server (only on XP SP2 and higher).

Then how do you change the source of audio between analog or SPDIF without TME being installed?

With Sage 6.4.8, I am now back to the original error message at the beginning of this thread. This appears to be consistent on both the release and Sage 6.5.5 Beta.
