Angry Still struggling with epg

Guys, I'd appreciate a little help...

I have a freq file that looks OK, and I have XMLTV importer working great, however the channel list I end up with (and hence the epg) doesn't line up with the channel that the tuner tunes to. (does that make sense?)

I have a FloppyDTV-S2 card, and need to have everything at 28.8e

I'm guessing the freq file i have is wrong somehow, anyone got one i can try ?

I'm following this process...
1.Deleting the capture card in Sage
2. Stop Sage
3. Fire up XMLTV (data is already there)
4. XMLTV Channel lineups
5. Delete my last try, and adda new lineup
6. fill in the bits, and select my latest frq file (c:\a.frq)
7. Confirm channel numbers and epg match... (they do)
8. run import
9. start Sage
10. install capture card with xmltv data, and no channel scan

TEST Select channel 101, tuner goes to a different channel !

First thing that strikes me is you say you chose you frg file from (c:\a.frq), my understanding is the file first needs to be in the SageTV directory, and also named specifically according to the card you have installed.

Also, you haven't said as much but you should complete at least one scan before you attempt to use XMLTV.

Yes, it would be easiest to complete one scan first. Then you can check all is ok before you even worry about epg. I did that originally, I know the number of channels it finds is overwhelming so I developed a clear idea of what channels I wanted (thankfully only the freesat channels and a few extra clear channels) then I made the pain staking job of whittling them down (edit frq file, or in sage, your choice).

Also, you say it currently tunes the wrong channel? look at the frq file and whats the comment at the end of the line for channel 101?

ok so it's best to keep the freq file that sage creates on a scan, and then edit that.. ?

I'll give that a go

Also, be careful what you use to edit the .frq file if you chose to. I spent days if not weeks on and of struggling with this only to discover that my editor of choice Notepad2 was destroying the format of the frq file. Looked OK in Notepad2 but once opened in notepad it was obviuosly corrupted.

I only stumbled on this after uploading here, and while reading back it opened in notepad by default revealing the corruption I wasnt seeing in Notepad2

I had a similar issue, this is due to all the previous failed attemps you did.

So before you start, you need to edit your sage properties file.

With a good XMLTV Lineup, you do not need lineup_overrides and phyical_overrides. So get rid of theses overrides lines (you may also get rid on the epg/channel_lineups/xx if you want to start fresh).

I insterted it as a 2 bis :

1.Deleting the capture card in Sage
2. Stop Sage
2 bis. Edit sage properties file to remove lineup and physical overrides
3. Fire up XMLTV (data is already there)
4. XMLTV Channel lineups
5. Delete my last try, and adda new lineup
6. fill in the bits, and select my latest frq file (c:\a.frq)
7. Confirm channel numbers and epg match... (they do)
8. run import
9. start Sage
10. install capture card with xmltv data, and no channel scan
