Will HD Theater play back divx/ac3 encoded avi files?

I'm considering the HD Theater, but I have a terabyte of AVI files (ripped movies and tv shows) encoded in divx/ac3, 740x480. One thousand two hundred eleven individual avi files to be exact. Meaning, I ain't re-encoding them.

Anyway, they play back fine through my old Sage MVP, though I assume that there is some transcoding taking place on the sage box that makes this happen. Can the HD Theater play back this format?

It's hard for us to say without trying one, but I would be very surprised if they did not work.

Yes they work well

The majority of my collection (2000+) are xvid rips of my DVD's with the AC3 Audio track. They play back wonderfully on my HD200 via component video and optical audio.

Yeah, but xvid is listed as one of the "supported" video formats...MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, XVID, and H.264. Divx is absent from that list. I'm hoping someone can verify that Divx will actually work.

Yes divx work as well

I also have Divx Files. They work just as well. I am assuming it has to do with the licensing fees associated with the DiVX format verses XVid being open source.

I have loads of them as well. All play fine on the HD100. I see no reason they will not play on the HD200.
