Recording shows by title

Is there a way for SageTV to set up a wait/search for program titles that are not yet listed in the online guide? Tivo has such a capability.

Thanks for the reply. However, as I read it (and try it), I can only request a Favorite that appears in the EPG. I'm trying to set up a watch for a title that may appear in the future. Does that make sense?

"New by Keyword" lets you type in a word to search for if there are no episodes in the program guide.

Yes that does make sense. What you need to do is from Manage Favorite you add a "New by Keyword" favorite instead of "New by Title" and put the title of the show you want as the keyword.

OK, I tried that. It just says "Your search returned no results". Now what? It seems as though it only deals with the EPG, it doesn't create some watch-bot that will keep an eye out for the title I'm looking for. Again, as Tivo will do, they call it a "WishList Search".

I think you are trying this in the wrong place. Please refer to the pages in the SageTV PDF manual (installed with SageTV) that were mentioned above. It sounds like you were typing the title on a search screen instead of going to the Keyword Favorite screen via the Favorites Manager. The search screen can say it found no results; the Keyword Favorite entry screen just creates a new Favorite w/o any kind of search being done.

Thank you for the follow-up and you are correct. I did as you said and it did create an entry for the title I entered. Now I have to test whether it will actually "catch" an airing. Thanks again.
