Physical DVD's with a media extender?

I have recently begun switching most of my clients over to media extenders, starting with a MediaMVP in my bedroom. Problem is, sometimes the wife still likes to play physical DVD's. If I add the DVD player on one of my machines as a media import directory, will that work OK? Will it freak Sage out that the stuff on that directory keeps changing? What do other people do to solve this issue?

Yes you can do this, but you will need to run something like AnyDVD on the machine that has the DVD drive. This way as it sends the video from the DVD to the media extender, it automatically removes the encryption. This is how many are now playing Blu-Ray discs back on the Extenders (HD200 only). You will just need to do a refresh of the media imports after loading the discs. I personally just rip my DVD's to hard drive but I know that this isn't the best solution for just watching a quick DVD someone brought over...
