Can anyone "watch" their QAM digital music stations via HDHR?

I've always had digital music show up on my HDHR channel scans, but I've never bothered to add the channels before. However, for kicks, I added them the other night - but Sage doesn't seem to be able to "view" them.

I get like 4 or 5 musical notes whenever the background graphic changes, but then silence until the graphic changes again, and then I get a few more notes.

If I record a music station, I get a file of just these "5 notes + new graphic" all stacked back-to-back.

These stations work fine under VLC, just not sage. I'm using the latest Silicondust HDHR beta.

I search around, and have found previous discussions of this, but no fix. I'd be happy to have just the audio - I have no particular need for the inane trivia they include on the graphics.

So, does anyone have this working?

thanks
matt

I have no problems at all playing the music channels recorded on a HDHR. I am using the latest Silicondust released drivers. I doubt if the beta would have broken anything in this area.

Are your music channels the same as mine (as I suspect): The graphic changes every 10 sec or so.

Wonder why Sage wouldn't see this as a valid file in my case.

Another data point:

If I watch from my HD100, it works fine. If I initiate a record from the HD100, I can then watch it on a placeshifter client. (Actually "watching" it is really annoying, because the graphic flashes up, then a green screen, then the graphic again, each for a second or so.)

However, if I try to watch a music channel from placeshifter directly (i.e., without starting it on the HD100), I get the behavior described above (a half-second of music every 10 seconds or so).

My MVP works just as the HD100 does. I guess maybe it's something specific to placeshifter....

My graphics for the music channel seems to change at intervals of 15 to 30 seconds. I am watching using the Placeshifter now with no problems. I tested using the Sage server before I made the post above. I normally watch using the HD100.
I just noticed that you are using SageMC, I would suspect that it may be the cause of the issue. You might try using the standard STV and see if it works properly. I use the standard STV.

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought that the stock STV vs SageMC would affect the underlying video stream...but what do I know.

I'll give it a shot and report back.

Our digital audio channels here have no background image. They sound fine in VLC but do not work at all in sage. No video means No Source is displayed even though the audio track is there. I just gave up. It would be nice though as most of our local radio stations seem to be simulcast over the cable in QAM.

I've exchanged several emails with the Sage developer working on the code to play the QAM digital music channels. It seems to be "in the works" but not at a very high priority. My last email about this was 2-3 months ago.

OK, thanks for the update. Good to know that SageTV at least knows that it's an issue.

To summarize my testing, in case it's useful for anyone else: I can watch and/or record a clear QAM music channel recorded via my HDHR only if I do so via the HD100 or MVP. If I start a recording on a hardware extender, then I'm able to watch it via a placeshifter client. However, I can't initiate the record from the placeshifter.

SageMC UI vs stock Sage UI doesn't matter.

My cable provider does not supply any pictures or video so Sage will not record anything. After a few moments "No Signal" appears and that's it.....

I just got an HDHR and found this same problem. Our music channels have no video here so I get the no signal or a video exception error when trying to tune. I had these working in GBPVR with a Fusion 3 card. Off topic but I've also had some flicking video problems w/ the hdhr, always on SD channels. Get's real annoying.

Michael has added hooks into the "web radio encoder" that should allow this to work. Trying it out is on my "to do" list, but it's near the bottom and the list is long right now...
