Sage Upgrade question

I've been upgrading SageTV (just installed the 6.5.9 version this morning), and when it's done, I simply repace the XLM filename in the sage.properties with the last XML filename. Anotherwords, this morning, after the install and before I launched Sage again I changed the filename to SageMC_169-14.XML

Is this the correct way of upgrading Sage? Or should I have left the SageTV3.XML file and launched saged. The installed SageMC again and then install the plugins.

Just go into setting,advanced,stv and change it to the one you want.

But do I need to initially use the SageTV3.xml file that came with the new version?

What if I've just changed the sage.properties to use the latest SageMC-169 file?

If the upgrade to the core software includes changes or additions in the Config Wizard, the stock UI will re-run the relevant portions of the wizard the first time it starts up. So for that reason it's probably a good idea to let that happen and then change STV files from within the UI, rather than pre-emptively editing the property setting before the stock UI has had a chance to run once.
