How to make list of QAM channel info?

I am a newby (very obvious) and maybe you can help me:

How do you make such a list? Is there some XML file? Did you put the list together by hand? Where did you find the information? Or did you use a special tool?

But I am searching for a method to display the channel meta information (i.e. freq, call letters, mapped channel, affiliate) comming within the stream for my local QAM channels.

After performing a channel scan do you know where SageTV puts that information to? Or do you knoe some tool, that reads out those informations?
