FanArt and .png

Forgive me if this question has been answered before. I tried searching, but didnt come up with the answer.

It appears that .png files are not currently supported for FanArt. If that is in fact the case, are there any plans to support them in the future?

Btw, I just want to say thanks to everyone working on FanArt/Phoenix. It has given me a brand new excitement for SageTV!
