problem with livetv - no picture but has sound

hey,

just finished a fresh install. and, of course i encountred problems.
i'm using win xp, 2gb ram, pent 4 2.8 ghz. should be enough.
running the Hauppauge pvr-350, connected to an antenna (tv tuner).
i added it as a video source. went fine.
when i go to the live tv. i can hear the sound of the channel just fine, but the screen is pitch black (besides the OSD of sage of course).

got all the latest drivers installed, got flash, got java, got directx.

any ideas?

thanks.

Omer.

Isn't the PVR-350 an analog only tuner? The analog shutoff in the US is today.

yeah, it's analog only
but i live in Israel. we do have digitel tv here, but i'm not using it for this sage box. dont need it.
one note, if i use an old lifeview p34+ tv capture card, i can see and hear everything, only it doesnt have an hardware encoder, such as the hauppauge. so the quality i get isn't as great as it should be.

Are you watching via an extender or directly from the PC? My wife pointed out last night that the kitchen TV on a MediaMVP has been doing as you described for several days on her recorded show. I upgraded to 6.5.16.211 beta a few days ago, so I'm assuming that has something to do with it.

In our case, SD (OTA) feeds work ok, but HD (OTA) gives audio only. Sometimes the OSD displays while the audio plays, sometimes it makes the bottom half of the screen green. I haven't switched to the default STV to test yet.

Just for clarification, no problems have been noted on the HD200, just the MediaMVP.

I figured I'd move to the newest beta that just came out before I spent too much time diagnosing.

i'm using the latest stable build. watching SD (OTA).
the pvr 350 is hooked directly to the PC, and the same thing happens both on the server pc and on the placeshifter client.

i'm guessing it has something to do with the graphics card. i'm using ati radeon something something with the catalyst driver (it's the onboard on the asus pundit, which is the platform of this machine).

hey blueroom.
it's just a site that informs about various transition stages, regarding DTV, in the world.
Israel has started the transition, but it's in beta phase.

back to topic - STILL NO CIGAR!!!
anyone, please, help!

Thought I'd update. Installed the latest beta (6.5.17.213) and the MVP seems to be working properly again on all channels.

Understood, but since the symptoms were similar, I thought I'd let you know the symptoms disappeared after the latest beta.

May also be of value to other MVP users since the thread title isn't hardware specific.

k, now i feel stupid. :-)
it was an overlay issue with the graphics card.
solved it using the "primary" util that came with the pvr's driver.
