Common Issue? How to solve?

Hi All,

Ok I have a problem that others must have and am not sure how to resolve it. The issue is this.

When watching a show if the show goes overtime from its allocated time the SageTV HD200 will show black screen for about 3 seconds before the show starts displaying properly again.

I beleive what is happening is SageTV is recording the show as we are watching as it does but then thinks oh the show is finished so i will write it away to disk and start a new file for the next show. This cause the black screen while this is happening.

Does anyone else get this? and have a solution?

Regards

Joe

If it's a recording or favorite, your only option is to use padding to pad the recording. The hitch between shows is just the way SageTV works...It's not just you, everybody gets it. SageTV records to disk and then plays back from the file. When one show ends, as dictated by the guide data, it will stop the recording and playback graphs and start new ones for the next recording. I've been using SageTV for a few years and I don't find the playback hitch between shows to be that big of a deal...I've gotten use to it.

I'm not sure if the info I provided HERE still applies to these newer versions of SageTV, but it may give you something to try to minimize the playback hitch between recordings.
