Placeshifter dynamic streaming not working

Great suggestion. I had never used DDNS before and IT WORKED like magic. Took less than 5 minutes to setup (if you already know how to change your router settings).

For others who want to do this:

1. See if your router supports DDNS.
2. Create a free account on dyndns.org
3. Activate DDNS in your router with your new domain name, logon and password info.
4. Point Placeshifter to the new domain name.

I now get Dynamic Streaming on my local wireless network.

Just a bit of clarification, dyndns is not necessarily required for this to function properly, the important step is to point placeshifter at your public IP for your router, and not the private IP of your server. In fact, I think if you use the built-in locator ID system, it will have the same effect.

Of course I tried that first. Not sure why it didn't work, except maybe that Sage knows that address and short-circuits attempts to treat that address as an internet connectkion vs. local network.

Re wireless speed. Even in the same room as the router, the wireless speed seems to vary up and down. All the more reason to jump through hoops to make Dynamic Streaming active all the time.

Or Sage could just add 3 lines of code to enable dynamic streaming over wireless : )

Maybe more like remove the few lines of code that prevent it!
