YouTube reports "Unable to determine video file to download" only in extender mode

Is this an automatic update feature? How do I configured/activate it? I am using SageTV version 6.5.9.204. Thanks.

To insure you have the update go to Setup->Detailed Setup->Advanced and Check for STV Update. I believe this applies to the version you are using, if not you should upgrade to the current release.

The fix does allow viewing of you tube videos in extender mode. I could not view the same video in stand alone mode. I believe it is now generating a different message but I believe there is still a stand alone issue.

No, this is not an STV update, though if there is one when you check, you might as well get the update.

The online video properties file update is automatic within 24 hours when using the default STV from v6.6.1 or later. Earlier versions of SageTV have additional YouTube issues, so I recommend you upgrade SageTV to v6.6 if you want to watch YouTube videos.

You can see whether you already have the update on the System Information menu: the "Online Videos version" will be listed as 2009081801. (Right below that line, it will say whether the online video updates are enabled; this isn't an option controllable in the UI, so it should be enabled because you would have to manually edit the properties file to disable it.)

The HD200 only gets the update while used as an extender connected to a SageTV server; it cannot get or use the update while in standalone mode, so this will be included in the next firmware version.

I am now confused, are you saying that I have no choice except to wait upto 24 hours for the HD200 to update? I am currently in extender mode and the "Online Videos version" is showing 2009081801. This means I am up to date, correct? When I go into standalone mode and try to view the same video I viewed in extender mode I get the following message:

unable to determine the video file to download.

Added: I went back to stand alone mode to see what that system information showed. But now when I go back to the extender mode I can no longer watch any of my recordings. I get a Sage.Playback exception, I even get it when I try to view a you tube video. My HD200 is currently useless.

Either one of both of the following allowed my HD200 to begin working properly again. Disconnected power. Renamed the properties files, so rebuild of them were required by Sage.

As I already posted above: the HD200 in standalone mode does not get this update automatically; you have to wait for the next firmware update for standalone mode.

The online video properties files are completely separate from the SageTV properties files, so if you had to revert your sagetv.properties file or mac_address.properties file, most likely something else happened. In fact, reverting/deleting your client properties file leaves the online video update in place, as you may have noticed.

And just to confirm, this has been working fine since the fix was posted when connected to the SageTV server with the HD200. I never use stand alone mode. I watched numerous youtube and google videos yesterday.

I can force an update of the STV but have not found a way to update the Online version to enable Youtube to work again in version V6.6.2.218

That error usually means that the file was deleted from YouTube... try to check it with your web browser, and see if it is true.

On the System Information menu, what does it say for the Online Videos version? The latest is "2009081801", as stated earlier in this topic.

Are you using SageMC or the default STV? You need to go to the Main Menu in the default STV.

This is not a YouTube issue; this is an issue downloading the online video properties file update. The file are correct on the server -- I checked immediately after uploading them & just the other day when someone submitted a bug report about it.

The MD5 error in the log indicates the file is corrupted after downloading, or perhaps there is some sort of md5 calculation error. But, every time I download them from within SageTV or directly, they download correctly, so I'm not sure what is happening to cause the files to be downloaded incorrectly for some people.

You could try downloading the files from these direct links to the v2009081801 files, but if they still download incorrectly, the files won't work, so backup your existing files they they will replace.

I've got the same same thing. With exactly the same bad MD5 checksum as you posted. Andy, let me know if you want any more information.

Going to try to manually download the file now.

Edit: copying the file fixed it. Also, I check the MD5checksum and it was fine. I downloaded through IE on the same computer. This is a client system.

Within a day or so, I'm going to see about creating a test STV that doesn't delete the properties file after getting a wrong MD5 so I can have someone zip & upload the downloaded properties file... unless someone has a "NewOnlineVideoLinks.properties" file that failed the MD5 check & was deleted? Maybe it can be undeleted?

Please read the earlier parts if this thread - you need to check the online video version as explained earlier in this topic, not the STV file version. And, it should be an automatic update.

Would someone having the MD5 update problem in the log please try using this test STV:
SageTV3_OnlinePropTest.zip

It should keep the file named "NewOnlineVideoLinks.properties" in the "STVs\SageTV3\OnlineVideos" directory under the SageTV install dir after the MD5 error. Please zip & upload NewOnlineVideoLinks.properties so I can take a look at it.

If you've already manually downloaded the update & have time to run the test, simply rename the files you downloaded, jump to the Main Menu in SageTV and it will try to download the update again. You can rename the files properly after running the test.
