Any particular video that fails? Everything I've tried so far on YouTube works.

My System Info screen displays:
Current STV file set version: 2009102001, MD5 prefix: cf5914
Online Videos version: 2009102202, MD5 prefix: c45d73

I corrected my STV's MD5 prefix above -- I mistyped it the first time. YouTube videos still work for me.

All I can suggest is to 1) remove any plugins & try again, 2) post the exact steps to lead to a video that doesn't work for you, and 3) post a debug log to see what is happening on your system. You've posted in the Playon thread -- try removing all custom online video properties files in case something is overriding a SageTV-provided feed.

I encounter this issue with all youtube and google videos. Everything else in online videos works fine. I am using the latest STV update. Here's my part of my debug from a random youtube video.

I'm not sure what to say... the same video works for me. Where are you located?

Would you load this YouTube page in a browser, view the web page's source, save it as a txt file & attach it to a post?

I am not able to watch any YouTube video using SageTV client or the HD200 in stand alone or extender mode. I get the message "Unable to determine the file to download.".

Google videos work fine and I can view YouTube videos in Internet Explorer.

SageTV version 6.6.2.218 with native recording update 9.
STV file set version 2009102001, MD5 prefix: cf5914
Online Videos version 2009102201, MD5 prefix: bf6e34

I am attaching the client log file. I took one of the YouTube URLs from the log file and pasted it into Internet Explorer and was able to watch the video.

If you'll read the previous several posts, you'll see that is out of date.

If you just now updated the STV, the update should be retrieved within the next 24 hours, or just rename your online video properties files & jump to the Main Menu again.

And, a beta firmware update for the HD200 was released today that includes the YouTube fix for standalone mode.

I had read the previous post but obviously not close enough since I missed a digit in the online video files version.

I updated the online video properties files and now it works fine.

Thank you.

started working for me tonight online videos went to 102601. It was stuck on 1022, but not sure if it was 1 or 2. I will take a look at the logs to see if it was doing the MD5 thing again.

I checked the log, and I see a lot of errors regarding the MD5 checksum. I was continuing to update the STV over the last week or so while this issue was occuring. If there is information or tests that you would like me to try, let me know.

Have you manually edited your current OnlineVideoLinks.properties file? Is it larger than 53,045 bytes?

I suggest simply renaming your current online video properties files & then jump to the Main Menu in the default STV. That should force a new download.

UTube/Google Videos (Unable to determine the video file to download)

Problem occurs while trying to play You Tube or Google Videos. SageTV was not successful in playing even one of them.
Version of Sage TV: SageTV V6.6.2.218
Jave Version: 1.6.0_07
Current STV File: SageTV3.xml (version 6.6.2.0 July 24th 2009)
Current STV file set version: 2009072401
Online Videos Version: 2009100201
Online videos updates are enabled

Example Youtube video that does not play Caillou goes apple picking. Plays just fine on the computer internet browsers.

Accessing the same through Main Menu->On-line services->You Tube->Search "Caillou" reports "Unable to determine the video file to download".
Tried "Most Viewed", "Recently Featured" etc, and all report the same problem.

What works:
Online videos, HD Videos, Home and Garden etc.

Problem also persistent in HD200 used in stand-alone or extender mode.

This problem appears to have been reported many times, but I didn't see a clear solution here in the forums. What am I missing? Is this feature no longer supported? Do I need to do some updates, settings?
Thanks,
-Jai

Your STV is old. Go to Detailed Setup -> Advanced and check for STV updates. There have been lots of improvements in the online services area but I beliebve the July STV will not support them.
