YouTube reports "Unable to determine video file to download" only in extender mode

I am also having this problem. I have SageTV installed in C:\SageTV with UAC turned on.

YouTube still works fine when I tested it just now. See the sticky topic in this forum for Online Services Updates. (Your online video properties files should update automatically soon if the update hasn't happened already.)

I don't doubt it works on your installation. My problem is on a new installation.

The online video properties is current. See above post. I even forced an update. I didn't have trouble with this on my old computer. This has happened with my new build. Also tried uninstalling SageTV, uninstalling JAVA update, deleting the whole directory, installing again.

Tried disabling UAC, then renamed OnlineVideoLinks.properties. Still no video playback, but I do get thumbnails which are updated. Tried playing my own uploads too.

Could this be a registry issue? Also, I have >1TB free on my recordings drive.

You only posted "Updated today by renaming"; you didn't post the version reported on the System Info page. If you deleted the files in the SageTV install path, but the actual files were in the VirtualStore, then you didn't really force an update. Your log snippet indicates _something_ is not up to date because my log is different when I play the same video, so I still say it could be an update issue. Please see the link I posted above and double check.

If System Info reports the same info as in my link for both the STV and the online video properties file, then I'll look into what else it could be.

If everything shows as up to date, then try the video again and attach your entire log file.

Thanks, I found it! I don't have anything in the local\Virtualstore (etc)\Program Files (x86). However, I found a SageTV3.xml in Roaming. Apparently doing STV updates from the setup menu is a bad practice with UAC enabled!
