Placeshifter lipsync with HD-PVR

I am using a placeshifter (last version) running on an an IBM P4 1.6GHz that connect to a mac mini server running W7 (last version too).
When watching TV or playing TV recording that has been recorded from RCA analog inputs on HD-PVR, I have a very noticable audio ahead sync problem. The HD-PVR is Rev. D1 and running the last version driver 1.5.6.
I have No audio problem at all using client on the server machine.

Searched in forum and tested multiple suggestions like changing audio decoder on server side, changing buffer size on placeshifter and also updating Java version.

What's amazing is I don't have this problem with HD TV or recording using SPDIF on the HD-PVR.

I've had luck reverting to the install cd driver (1.0.5.3 or something). I am using RCA stereo input to the HDPVR, and still get drift on one particular channel.

Simple question. I paid for SageTV Placeshifter. It has never worked for me in the last year. I have tried on XP, Vista, Win7. I am now running Win7. What should I do?

There's a setting we added in V6.6 to workaround a problem where some streams generated by the HDPVR had incorrect timestamps in them that the transcoder didn't like. Try setting this in your Sage.properties file on the server:

xcode_fix_broken_hdpvr_streams=true

Does this work on existing recordings, or only on those recorded after the settings is added?

Still not working for me. The Lipsync is still here and only on RCA inputs. On SPDIF no problem at all.
I also remarked that after I have set this option, there is an audio stuttering at begining of playback for 5 seconds or less. May be SageTV tring to sync audio?

Thanks - this seemed to work as far as lip-sync on HD PVR files, with a Version E1 unit. Is this fix universal, or dependent on something Hauppauge has done in their hardware/firmware?

On further investigation, this fixed sync when using Placeshifter internally on my own network. When I venture out to Starbuck's, I get sync errors with any material recorded on the HD-PVR (but not my older PVR-150).

hmmm . . . is this a h.264 problem?

its the weekend so i'm back to fixing up my broken sagetv.

you guys say "it worked". I understand the property fixed the sync. So is it correct to say you are streaming a 1080i .ts video from your hd-pvr to the placeshifter? if so, will you please post the setup of your systems for client and server. I just need a winning combination to try.

Placeshifter setup: OS, h.264 codec
Server setup: OS, recording settings (optical/RCA stereo, good/better/best)

1080i H.264 is not supported by place shifter. You need to use 720p.

Is this "fix" still needed in Sage 7? I am having periodic sync problems - wouldv'e thought this would be fixed in 7.
thanks

i had to set it to get 720p hdpvr recordings to lipsync properly with v7....

This isn't a "fix" in the sense that sages software was/is broken... the problem is on hauppage's end since those drivers are creating the messed up timestamps that the sage transcoder doesnt like.... therefore sage still needs it to workaround the incorrect timestamps until hauppage fixes their drivers.

Hello,

How do you set it for 720p instead of 1080i?

Thanks

The HDPVR will record the stream to whatever format it is given. So if your input is 1080i the recording will be 1080i. To foce 720p you would have to do that on your set top box. Some boxes will let you do it through the normal setup menus. Others may require going into a 'hidden' setup menu to lock the output to a specific resolution. Poke through your menus on your STB and see if you can find the setting. If not google may turn up something
