Windows 7 - Display Options
Hey guys, just upgraded to 7 and discovered that I could turn off FSE for the first time without seeing tearing in video! Cool EVR finally works like I thought it should. However, I noticed that the new bottom bar is showing so I changed it to auto-hide which is ok except that I can still see it a little. Then the mouse pointer doesn't seem to be able to go completely off screen except for the bottom...which brings up the new start bar.
I know I can move the bar away from the bottom but I like it there. How are you guys dealing with this? |

Are you watching on a monitor of HDTV? on an HDTV, if set correctly, these things should be outside in the overscan region if your video mode is set properly and GPU scaling disabled.

I'm running an HDTV, 1080p 60hz no GPU scaling. Windows is definitely underscanned because there's a thin black border running around left, right and bottom. Top seems to be flush to the monitor.

What video card are you running? I'm guessing it's an ATI, since they default to some scaling when connected to an HDTV. Also, the settings is very well hidden in the Win7 Catalyst Control Center. If I remember right, to get there, you have to go to the display options (where it shows the big representation of your display, with a smaller box for each display below), and on the small representation, choose either configure or properties. In there there will be a scaling option, that is probably set at like 15% or something. Drag it to 0%, and you'll be good to go.
To verify you are at a 1:1 pixel ratio, set this as your background. You should end up with an even grey background. If you have banding, it means you are scaling somewhere.
