hd100 garbled audio HDMI when change channel

OK!
I have an old:
Olevia 26"
HD-100
just added to long time working system!
ALL firmware/software updated.

using component video, bad color & hum in audio (oh' well!)

using hdmi good color but garbled audio unless:
1. turn off/on TV
or
2. unplug hdmi cable from TV then plug back in

change channel OR change recordings and I have to do all over again.

Any clue?
Thanks,
Ray

To be exact for future reference.
Olevia 26 was an older HD tv.
older hdmi version?
who know, but whenever I changed HD-100 source/channel
I would have to cycle through inputs or turn off/on Olevia 26
to clear up sound.

Thanks,
Ray

I think idealy, especially on older equipment, using HDMI for basic stereo sound is silly. It is so far down the lin ein compatability, it seems to cause problems. just stick with basic stereo analog for now, until you get an HDMI capable AVR w/ speakers.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. What HDMI does bring, even if you're using only the TV's speakers, is simplified connectivity and less cable clutter. One cable for both HD video and audio. It's an OCD person's dream.

I suppose... I've never given number of cable much concern, as they are all properly hidden/in-wall.
