Garbled Audio

Hi,

I am running version 6.4.4 Sage server and client on two different machines. There are some recordings (mpeg files) that will play with garbled audio on my server machine or just refuse to play saying error with audio content.

Yet on my SageClient machine these recordings play just fine. Have anyone seen this before?

These mpeg files are captured by a DVB-T tuner card, and garbled audio has happened in past but not as often as this beta version. I have always thought it is a problem the DVB-T capture process, until now I found that the same files are actually playable on another machine.

Is there any difference in the audio track? Say one is in stereo and that works and the ones that are garbled are DD5.1? Sounds like an audio decoder issue, at least that is where I would start. I am not a DVB-T expert (or DVB-anything for that matter).

The local (Australia) free-to-air signal sometimes carries both mp2 and ac3 stereo tracks in their signal. When there is 5.1 ac3 (on certain HD channel), it is the only track in the signal.

When this happened, the recording details usually show very strange info. about the audio tracks (MP1@32kHz) - see attached image.

DO the files play fine outside of Sage? (VLC)

Whats are your Audio Codec you are using?

When playing with VLC, there is no sound but the video is fine. When select the second audio track, then the sound will come out OK.

The audio decoder in Sage is "default", my sage client will play both tracks just fine.

When playing using GraphEdit, it plays with garbled audio and the audio decoder is MPEG Audio decoder.

All these situations happened on my Sage Client machine.

My current work-around is to use AC3Filter as the audio decoder, and configure AC3Filter to handle MPEG Audio as well.

This seems to solve my play back problems, even though some trouble recordings that no other software players (including VideoRedo) can handle.

Cychou,
Did you/Sage ever work out what was happening with the mp1 audio problem?
I have the same issue, and as I only use extenders, I don't think decoders on the server will help.

BTW, My epg is working really well!

Check this beta out! It is probably your best hope.
I have long suspected poor handling of DVB-T signal on Sage's part for the last 2.5 years.

Hi

im also in australia and also have had similar issues.

my most common issue is that shows on abc and sbs are sometimes stuttery and audio is garbled. im working through this with donkey at the moment.

out of interest - which version of the native recording patch did you try? the earlier versions completely trashed my system

Any news on this front?
I'm reluctant to install any patches as it otherwise running really well, and my wife would shoot me is anything got worse!
Ta,

I'm in Perth and have experienced major issues with recording of HD channels, particularly ABC HD.

Last week I installed the latest native recording patch from Donkey http://download.sage.tv/users/qian/R...ngNative07.zip and since then no issues even across 200+ tests.

Give it a try.

Thanks for the tip! I tried the patch, and it's been working for a few days now. Fingers crossed! No more Application error.
