double recordings

Occasionally I have noticed that Sage would record the same episode of a favorite multiple times. I don't consider it a big deal and will usually just delete the extra recording without bothering to investigate why. A few times I found that Zap2It had put different show ID's and a couple of times I found that the teen had fallen asleep and left Sage on live TV. But, there have been a few times where I have not been able to explain why Sage has re-recorded an already watched episode and now Sage has re-recorded just such an episode. Both recordings are of South Park episode 104 - "The Biggest Douche in the Universe" and I can compare both recordings since I had archived the original. Both have the same title, episode title, episode number, and episode ID. The only thing different is the filenames, the original is:
"SouthPark-TheBiggestDoucheintheUniverse-1685525-0.ts"
and the re-recording is:
"SouthPark-2041959-0.ts

The fact that the second one has a shorter filename would seem to suggest that at the time it was recorded, the EPG did not contain episode info for that airing. Sage probably couldn't tell whether it was a previously watched epsidoe or not, and that's why it was recorded. Then some later EPG update filled in the episode data for that airing, after it had already started recording.

I've seen a similar thing happen once or twice where a last-minute schedule change replaces a program I meant to record with something else, and retroactively updates the EPG so it reflects what was actually recorded instead of what was originally scheduled.
