Pace RNG110 + Windows 7 + Firewire
Has anyone gotten recording or even just channel changing to work for this combo?
I've tried Tim Moore's firestb package and the drivers from http://home.comcast.net/~exdeus/stbfirewire/ The drivers are not detected when pointed to the Exdeus driver folder, but I have tried forcing the Motorola 6200 and the Generic Pace Panel/Tuner drivers with no success. When I open the capture device directly (after forcing either driver) with VLC I get no video and horrible screeches. Not sure if this is even worth pursuing or if I should just use an IR blaster setup with an HDPVR because if I can get this working on my laptop, I would have to reload my Sage machine with 32bit Windows 7. It doesn't look like any drivers are out there at all for x64 yet So any advice, tips, pointers, etc would be much appreciated! |

Did you get this to work?
Hi,
I'm having the same problem, Windows 7 doesn't recognize Exdeus drivers. Did you ever get this working? Thanks, Bob |

There are no firewire drivers that support 64 bit Windows. You'll need to do it on 32 bit Windows.

There are no firewire drivers that support the RNG110, even on 32-bit. I returned mine to Comcast and requested a Moto box. They gave me a Moto DCH3200 instead. Now I am happy! ...I'm also on 32-bit which doesn't hurt in the case of getting FW working.

Decided to just use HDPVR and an IR Blaster to avoid re-loading the Sage box with a 32 bit OS. Sad thing was, the Hauppauge software could not learn the remote codes of the Pace box so I had Comcast swap it out. So now I have a Moto DCH3200 which would probably do Firewire but I haven't even bothered lol.

Yeah, I couldn't get an IR blaster to work with the RNG110 either. That box is useless. The Moto should be potentially have no issues. Add it to the long list of things to do

I was able to get the RNG110 to work (from Comcast, MFR by Pace). I had to force the Panel driver to the PACE Panel Driver in device manager. To allow the channel changing, using Channel -f worked.
http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/320724-post2117.html Also, I am using FWChannelProxy to perform the channel changing in Sage. My thread here: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47175 I currently have it working with 3 RNG110s hooked up via SVHS to two HaupPauge MCE500 analog tuner cards, using FireWire for channel tuning. Hopefully this information will be of help to someone. |
