Potential padding?

I know there is a plugin to make padding default, but what about a plugin which will pad a show in the beginning and end of its run if and only if nothing is recording before and/or after the show?

searching for such a creation has yielded me no results.

thanks!

Lots of people have requested dynamic padding. BeyondTV had it and it worked great. there is a setting to remove padding on back to back favorites on the same channel, but it does not work across multiple channels. I feel your pain.

I was hopeing SRE had this capability, but it doesn't. Maybe Sage 7.0

Since you (sort-of) bring it up, i'll point out that i've also thought about how neat it would be if sage didn't stop/restart the tuner for shows that were back-to-back on the same channel, and instead just recorded one large block encompassing all the shows and split them up in software instead.
That'd save several seconds of black screen between programs.
I'm sure this has been brought up before, tho. Good to know i'm not the only one looking for these features.

Is this padding thing something that could be solved with a STV import? Or wouldn't that be possible? Haven't much knowledge about it unfortunately....

From page 203 of the SageTV manual, in detailed setup, under customize, there's an option to "Always tune channel". If you disable this, then Sage will not "change" the channel if the recording is on the same channel. Personally, I always tune so that I'm ensured when a single missed channel change occurs, it doesn't affect subsequent recordings. Granted, I can't remember the last time a channel change was missed.
