That would be awesome tmiranda! Maybe I could learn something. I am still curious though as to whether I should invest the time tinkering with TVE, SMW, and BMT with my current SageMC setup or if I should just wait for Phoenix if it is all going to be wrapped into one nice package. If that is the case, I can wait 6 months or so for that. I am also curious what SageMC users will have to do to switch over to Phoenix. Anyone have any insights?

I saw it wouldn't hurt to go now and start learning or you could wait. But remember phoenix won't be all wrapped up into one. It will have allot included I am sure but external imports (ie TVE,SMW) will still be needed if you want to use those.

If you are happy with what you have now I say go with it. I believe most SageMC users will leave sage for either ortus, phoenix or whatever sage might hold that has been talked about. I think Sagemc will be dated when all those are released

I am right there with you guys.

I am probably not normal Sage user as I ONLY use the HD200 for extender purposes with the software running on my server. I have 4 of the HD200s throughout the house and love them for what they do (play my DVD catalog, my music, and pics from the media server)

I am running the Sage MC plugin and I do like the way it looks. I have put in a lot of effort to get BMT and other things to work with no luck at all and so I just kind of live with it.

I would love to have the types of things I see a lot of members have (movie data, fanart images etc as well as TV episode datat) but since I don't quite all the ins and outs none of those things work for me (fanart sort of does but since I cannot find artwork for most of what I have on the server ... I have very little fanart being displayed)

Looking at the upcoming things people are working I am excited for the future and hope that someone can make things work for me (w/o too much hassle)

Thanks

Greg

Hey, I remember this topic! It seems to be one that pops up around here regularly. I've not had a chance to bounce over here in a while and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to see something familiar being discussed...kinda like a big ol' plate of meatloaf and mashed potatos slathered with brown mushroom gravy....comfort food.
During my very brief forray into MediaPortal, one of the things I was impressed with was their plugin management metaphor...just an external app that (in theory) allowed you to select the plugins you wanted, it would install and configure them, and away you went! Of course, the app didn't work worth a hoot, but the idea was nice. I hate to jump onto the "wouldn't it be nice if..." cart, but....wouldn't it be nice if SageTV provided a plugin management system/app as part of their product. In addition, a set of rules would need to be published to developers that would enable their plugin management app to:
  • Check for dependencies
  • If dependencies are not met, automatically retrieve and install and configure them
  • Make appropriate configuration changes
  • Register the current version and configuration of the newly installed plugin so that other apps can confirm in case they have a dependence on it
To paraphrase Andy VT (babgvant), I'd also like a flying car, but that's beside the point.
Oh, and please don't pile-on me here because I've switched away from Sage. I still like to read up on things over in this world and see how things are going.
