I think so as well. I can watch my riped folder with TMT2 or TMT3 (no AnyDVD in the mix at this point) and the forced subs show as they should.

On the HD200 in extender mode, I have the problem. In standalone mode the presentation graphics don't seem to show up at all.

EDIT: I don't think presentation graphics are supported yet in standalone mode anyway.

I have never sent a email to Sagetv support before. Should this problem be reported to them?

I have had the same problems with a few movies with forced subs when using clown bd. I just started ripping BD's so I have only seen it on a few but I had the exact same issue and have been able to fix it with a manual tsMux process

Pineapple express, District 9, and Hancock are three that I know had this issue.

I don't have Avatar yet to test, but in the other movies I had to disable tsMuxer in ClownBD and run tsMuxer manually

In Clown BD I have Forced Subs checked (not the grey box. an actual check mark) and I select English Audio and Subs and let it rip to the hdd.

When Clown is done with pass 3 open tsMuxer select blu-ray Output, add the Video stram, Audio streams, and Sub Streams.. Clown BD creates a sub stream that has FORCED in the filename, but I do NOT add that one. Select english in the drop down for each audio and sub stream. Fix custom chapter times in the blu-ray tab. Then start the mux.

The result is a movie with working forced subs. I don't even need to select a sub stream or enable subs on the hd200. If I hit options the subtitles box is not checked.

I do think this might be a HD-200 issue since TMT3 will play the ClownBD auto tsMuxed BD rips fine, but this work around has worked so far for me.

I have had the same issues you had when using clownbd alone. So I as well have used tsmuxer by itself and the subs work for all movies up until Avatar. I have just forward my logs to Sagetv support. Hopefully something can be done on their end.

I had the exact same issue with a Pinocchio BRD rip, (flashing subtitles), I submitted the problem and sample rip to SageTV and was told the issue had been sent to the developers.

Still waiting for a solution.

I am sure everyone else got it, but an email this morning said AnyDVD had updates had fixes to issues with Avatar.

If anyone wants to try the newest lick of AnyDVD to see if it solves the problem, I'd be interested to know the outcome.

I have tried this update hoping it would fix the problem. No luck same issue still appears.

I doubt this has anything to do with Anydvd. But if someone wants to give it a shot, a simple test would be to try playing back the original blu-ray disc through Power DVD with and then without Anydvd loaded. I would hope that Power DVD could play the disc properly on its own and then you can see if the presence of Anydvd does anything. Just a thought.

Aloha,
Mike

Just wanted to follow up on this. I still cannot figure out why using ClownBD off the original rip gives me audio sync issues. However, I used MakeMKV, off the original rip, to create a single file and the audio is in sync when playing back on the HD-200.

As far as the subtitle issue is concerned, it still doesn't work right, but I do have all the forced subtitles showing up with the following workaround. I used eac3to to extract out the forced subtitles. I then OCR'd them with SupRip to get a text file of only the forced subtitles (.SRT). Now, I have a file called Avatar.srt in the same directory as my Avatar.mkv. When I watch Avatar now, with subtitles turned on, I get the appropriate forced subtitles to appear. It is in white text with a basic font, instead of the cool, yellow font that is in the movie, but at least I have the forced subtitles to tide me over until a fix for this is identified.

Just my 2 cents, but I don't think this issue has anything to do with AnyDVDHD either. The subtitles are obviously there, since eac3to can find them and extract them. I just think it is a newer approach to subtitle display and all the playback devices need to catch up.

I recommend filing a bug for this - the more people that Sage here's from regarding this the more quickly they are likely to fix (if it's their problem in the first place, which seems more likely than not at this point).

btl.

Thank you sir. Just in time for Avatar to come out on Netflix.

…(random rant) You know it’s a pretty messed up business when getting new releases a month after the actual release date is beneficial due to the extra time givin to all the playback companies for a chance to fix what the studios break in their releases….

I tried the Beta last night with Avatar and subtitles showed up exactly as they should (cool font and yellow). I also tried 2012 and subs worked for that too. Great job. One thing I noticed is that on some scenes after the last subtitle shows up it stays on the screen. I waited for 2 minutes into the next scene and the last sub was still there. It really doesn't bother me I am just glad I can follow the dialog. I can make it disappear if I jump forward or back. For reference this was a full Avatar folder copy with AnyDVDHD I haven't tried to do the movie only using ClownBD yet on this title.

Sage has confirmed a bug in the forced subtitle processing where sometimes the first couple subtitles in a group does not show up and then it works (i have not seen the bug you are describing)... so perhaps the bug youre seeing is similar and they'll hopefully have a new firmware out soon. You could always submit a support request to see what they say...

When I first tried this updated firmware I tried Avatar again and noticed no subtitles. Thought great here we go again. I then skipped ahead and then back to the spot where I knew subtitles were and they worked. Now everytime I go to that same spot they show up

Actually this happened again when i stopped avatar and restarted the movie. Subs are missing unless i skip back and rewatch that same part. Should another bug report be sent?
