Fast Play?
Is there a way to fast play a recording. Instead of Fast Forward where it skips x number of seconds, I'd like it to double/triple-play speed, like a VCR. Is this possible?

Yes. Not configured by Default but you can map a remote key to the Smooth FF (event #93) and Smooth RW (event #94)
Refer to Chapter 5 of the SageTV manual (pg 220) |

Thanks GreyWolf! My apologies for not having referred to the manual.

Actually, according to the manual reference you provided:
"No effect during playback of recordings on a Windows system" So does this imply that it's not possible? |

I'm running Windows XP for Sage Server, HD200 as the client.
Try going to SETUP => Detailed Setup => Commands => Link Commands Then scroll down the commands looking for Smooth FF & Smooth RW Map those commands to a remote button and it should work for you. Each press of the key will then cycle thru 4x, 16x, 64x, 256x, normal At least it does for me. Just went back and reread the manual. See what you mean there. Since I use the HD200 as the client/playback, maybe that is why it works for me. still worth a try, wouldn't hurt. Last edited by graywolf; 07-04-2010 at 10:37 AM. |

Thanks, I'll try it anyway.
I also see that there is the Multispeed plugin. This might be an option as well, but I'm unclear how to program my Harmony remote to send the special event numbers. Am I adding something to my IRREMOTE.INI? In the Harmony software, I don't see how to define an "Event number" - just associating buttons to a certain set of defined commands. Any help you can offer in that regard? |

you want to associate the buttons with Smooth FF and Smooth RW which should do the trick.
Forget about event number, thats internal and sorry if that threw you off the track. |

Arrrgh!
In trying to map the SmoothFW (new screen for me), I somehow remapped the Enter key. I was able to get this mapped back - sure makes it difficult when you remap you Enter key! I can't find where these settings are stored in the config files so I can manually undo the mapping. Any ideas? I'm trying to re-map/link a remote/IR command, but it doesn't seem to be reading the IR commands. It picks up keystrokes. I know my remote works because I navigate around using the remote, but when trying to re-map, I can never advance from the prompt until I hit the keyboard (which is how I ended up, unintentionally remapping my Enter key!) I got it working, but not sure if it's the best/right way:
Since all the buttons on the remote (45-button Hauppauge) where already mapped appropriately except the color buttons, I linked the BLUE button to the SmoothFF and linked the YELLOW button to the SmoothRW and defined the Up Arrow (not the NAV UP) as the BLUE button and the Down Arrow (not the NAV DOWN) to be the YELLOW button, so it's quasi-intuitive. I then defined in the IRREMOTE.INI that the BLUE key sends "." and the YELLOW key sends ",": Code:
[SageTV] BLUE=. YELLOW=, Shift+"," = "<" == YELLOW == SmoothRW Feels overly complicated, but in the end my UP ARROW is a SmoothFF and my DOWN ARROW is a SmoothRW - my end goal. |
