remotes goes to fast

I've seen the solution to this before..but, I didn't understand it..

When I click on a button on my remote, Sage moves 2 or more...When I click "down", it goes down 2 or 3.

In the property files are the following lines...Please tell me how they work...to fix this problem.

infrared_receive_repeat_delay=250
infrared_receive_repeat_delay_rc5=350
infrared_receive_repeat_period=120

Also, since I now have moved to the HD extender, I expected to see these lines in the extender property files, but could not find them. So, how do I slow down the remote for the extenders?

Thanks,

Gary Ellis

I had the same problem with the harmony remote but since you didn't mention the remote, I assume you are using the original?

Sorry, I have an all in one remote - a JP1 programmable model....

I learned many of the commands from hd extender remote and then programmed some in with RC5 toggle on...

The times on those properties are in milliseconds. If the extender uses those properties, they could be inherited from the defaults properties file or the server's sage.properties file & that would mean they aren't created automatically in the extender's properties file.

Did you learn the codes or program them in via the JP1 tools? If learned, maybe they aren't toggling correctly or the timing in the remote is off. Maybe using the JP1 tools would yield better results, if that isn't what you are doing already.

The codes seem to work fine...Just one press of the down button moves it 2 or 3 times down...I can just barely touch it and keep it to only one move down.

Thus, I think it is in the timing..So, if the extender is inheriting these properties from the defaults or server properties...how do I change them so it inherits new ones..I can go into the properties files and change the numbers..but, how do I make the extender inherit new ones. Or alternatively, can I just put these into the extender properties files?

Thanks,

Gary Ellis

That sounds like they aren't working fine, though. The remote that comes with the extender shouldn't do that, for example.

Just put them in the extender's properties file while the extender is not actively connected to the server & see if it makes a difference.

Andy,

Thanks for "joging" my mind....I've lived with this problem for a couple of years with the MVP's...I could never get the "select" key to work with my All in one remote. With your help, I figured out how to use JP1 to program the Hauppauge 45 layout in to my remote. But, I only mapped over the "select" key, since it was the only one that didn't work. I thought the arrow keys didn't work because of the properties file commands. Well, you made me realize that all I needed to do was map the arrow keys from the 45 remote that I had JP1 programmed (2 years ago)...I just now mapped them to the existing arrow keys and the double and triple jumping with my remotes are now a thing of the past.. WAf is going to be way up tonight...

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you...

Now on to the next problem...
