v7.0.12 Problems with HVR 2250 and mkv's

I installed v7.0.12 over v7.0.11 and the HVR 2250's digital tuners register 0 signal strength. Also, my videos (mkvs) on the server's client would play without video. On skip-forward the video would appear momentarily, then disappear (blank screen). I restored the previous TSSplitter which allowed the mkv's to play (I'm not sure how well). The HVR 2250 analog would play, but the digital never did. I reverted back to my 7.0.11 back-up and all seems to be well again. My only plugin is ComSkip -- no themes, nothing else for now.

After installing 7.0.12 my HVR-2250 Digital Tuners and S-Video do not function properly. I tried deleting the video sources and recreating them but the Digital cards presented this error on the Digital Tuners. It states "There was a Capture Error in playback. Details: Error (-2,0x80004005): There was an problem using a SageTV Component. Please Reinstall the SageTV application".

I Reinstalled version 7.0.11 and the digital tuners seem to be working again! Anyone else have issues??

I had exactly the same problem. Rolled back to 7.0.11 and all is well.

Just another post to say me too I have two HVR-2250's and the digital tuners all stopped working after the 7.0.12 upgrade. As with everyone else, the analog tuners do work properly.

I must say, that did fix the problem with my installation of 7.0.12, thanks.

But just where and when did you find this information. The file is dated 7/19/2010 10:26 and is version 3.0.0.25 and my current time is 10:40… Not sure where Sage is located but I am in CST.

Just curious…

Qian is a develper at Sage - he didn't so much find the solution as he more than likely created it.

If someone is officially representing SageTV it would be helpful if they would identify themselves as an employee, similar to the way Jeffrey Kardatzke identifies himself in his forum signature. Andy (Opus4) provides a lot of good information and appears to be a SageTV employee, but I'm not really sure.

Are you still having mkv playback issues though? (I am that's why I ask).

My mkv's are h264 encoded videos, and for some reason they do not play back. . .
i traced this around enough too know that if I switch the "Always use DirectShow" setting
and have it use SageTV player, these files playback fine. . . and they also playback fine when using windows media player. . but I think something is wrong in their container handling. . .

I believe the engineers and other developers post here as a courtesy. Sure, having a special icon or note under their userID would make it easier to identify them, but I don't think it's that big a deal.

Anyone who's been reading the beta group for a little while knows a number of the developers post here regularly, usually associated with testing of particular code branches and components.

They're not customer support and I wouldn't expect that from them - which some might if their posts were labeled as being Sage posts.

I am having the same issues with my .MKV files. They are H.264 encoded. Worked fine in 7.0.11 and now with 7.0.12 I get just video, no audio. I get exactly the same behavior on my 3 HD200 extenders.

Yeah I submitted a bug for the mkv issue.

I was having the same problem in 7.0.11 though I believe. . .

Anyway it seems like there is something going on where it can't pick the right DirectShow filter. If I switch to "Always Use SageTV Player" it works fine, but what's funny is the files play just fine in windows media center. So they obviously have something wrong.

For Linux users, please submit bug reports. A quick inquiry to SageTV says they don't have any reports of these issues. I will be doing so today as well.

Uh for windows, the must certainly do have a bug. . . b/c I submitted it and they responded saying use a different decoder. . .

for which I promptly responded no, this is a bug b/c using Microsfot Codecs and direct show should just work. . . especially since it works in Windows Media player. . .

Ditto for me too and I'm still on 7.0.11.

Would help to have someone else to file a bug and push for a DirectShow solution?
