HD300 sometimes slow to respond to remote

Hello all, after browsing around this forum for a few months I decided to drop WMC7 and move to SageTV. For the most part it has been wonderful but there are a few nagging issues.

Both my HD300's seem at times slow to respond to the remote control commands. Instead, a bit too often they would display the circle of death for a few seconds in response to a remote control command. Is this normal behavior or are my expectations too high?

Also, I've noticed that there are a few occasions when I'm watching live TV, when the video would suddenly slow down considerably (slo-mo) and the sound would be completely gone. After some seconds (feels like ages though) you can see the video speed up as if to catch up to where it is supposed to be. After that, the sound would be restored and the video speed would be back to normal.

Any hint as to where I need to start in troubleshooting these issues would be greatly appreciated.

My setup is:
WHS (HP EX475, 2G) running SageTV V7.0.17 Release Candidate
HD300 x 2
Wired Network with DLink DIR655 Router
