I see my movies in SMM, but that is all I can do. No buttons work!

What a headache! Ok, here is where I am...

Win7 64
Latest RC SageTV 7 Server
Doing all of this on my server. No clients or extenders yet.

Ok, I installed My Movies Collection Management on my server and imported all my DVD/BD rips (which also reside on this very same server). It is only about 50 movies. My movies is currently running in the tray and actively monitoring the movie directory.

I then fired up Sage and downloaded the Sage My Movie plugin. (The walkthough guide I am using at http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2010...7-walkthrough/ talks about installing a "client plugin" and a "server plugin" but all I saw was "install plugin" so that is what I chose.) The plugin installed and I restarted Sage just to be sure.

I fired up Sage again and went into the "My Movies" area and all I had was a grey screen and it shows "0" movies on the top bar. I couldn't do anything in this screen. The only button that would work is my right mouse button. When I click the right mouse, I get a menu that slides in from the left. I had to "X" out of Sage (had it windowed) to get Sage to close as I couldn't do anything here. So I loaded up Sage again and began looking for options for SMM thinking maybe I needed to turn something on. I found the Scan Library option so I did that thinking maybe SMM needed to see the movies before I could do anything.

Well, now if I go into My Movies area, and it has all the movies loaded with the clip art, but I still can't do anything from this screen. My left mouse button doesn't work here at all. All I have the is scroll wheel and the right mouse button that bring in a menu from the left when I click the right mouse.

Any ideas on what the hell I did wrong here? Does it make sense that I can sell all the movies but can't navigate this section? I have to either X out of Sage from here, or if its full screen, alt-tab and then close Sage from the Task Manager.

Smm does not work with a mouse it is meant to be used with a remote or keyboard.

Lol! Well damn. Had I known that I wouldn't have been pulling my hair out for the last hour and a half thinking I did something wrong. Why is it only meant to work this way? Is there no desire to use SMM directly from a SageTV client? From what I saw, it looked pretty damn cool and I'd love to be able to use a mouse!

Ok, well I guess I can't do any testing with it until I get my extenders in then (sometime next week).

Did I install it correctly? Just the one plugin is all need need correct? The walkthrough had screen shots of a "client plugin" and a "server plugin" but I only saw the one "plugin".

Client plugin is for client computers not servers so you are fine.

Most all users have a remote or keyboard (you don't have a keyboard??) mouse is something I have never supported fully. Eventually smm will but it is low on the priority list.

Well of course I have a keyboard. But who navigates a GUI on a computer screen with a keyboard only? I could understand if I'm working from the command line... I actually hate the mouse but, using Windows, there is no way around it. That is why I expected it to work and thought I had broken something.

I appreciate the help, Plucky. I guess I need to find a keyboard map somewhere that tells me what keys do what so I can play with it until I get my extenders and remotes in.

Really all you need is the arrow keys and enter with smm.

Plucky I do seem to be having some issues. Some movies play while others don't. For example, I can navigate with the arrow keys though my list of movies and then hit "Enter" on the movie I want to play. However, some movies will not play when I hit enter while other start up and play just fine when I hit enter.

I have the media path set to f:\movies which is the exact path I have set in My Movies.

Ideas?

What version of collection manager?

What until the next build I am 99% sure it is a path issue or another issue I have fixed.

Ok,

I uninstalled My Movie Collection and Sage My Movie plugin. I then downloaded My Movie Collection 3.18 Pre Release 4 and installed it. I also then downloaded Sage My Movie Plugin again and re-installed that.

I now have My Movie collection running and have my directory imported. I started up Sage and went to My Movies and all my movies are there. However, same problem. I still can't watch some of them while I can watch others.

Would there have been anything else I would have needed to done? Or would I have needed to "hand delete" anything to fix what was broken?

Stop the sagetv service and delete the db File from the mymoviesfilesshare\sagetv\database

then restart the service

it should rebuild and fix itself.

Ok, that did it!!

Now I have to figure out why Poster View is empty of all fan art and how to setup trailers to play when I go to play a movie.

Thank you so much for helping me out Plucky!

I'm having the same problem, BUT I figured out I'm an idiot and had installed mymovies client on the sagetv server, the mymovies server being on the file server that stores the shows. I could see all the covers, but got bubcus when hitting enter. So I installed the mymovies server on the sage server, with the UNC path setup to point to exactly the same place as sage (case sensitive aware. Now I get the database build constant message, and when I try to delete the db file per above, I can't find it. I do have a DataFiles sub under the mymoviesfileshare\sagetv\ but it's empty. smm says database is currently being created and stays there for 24 hours so far.... and I'm getting bored watching. Any suggestions? I am emailing logs just in case....

EDIT: I've no idea what happened, maybe overnight wasn't long enough, but now it's working and there's a db file.... So never mind! And more importantly thanks for a great app, looking forward to the non-mymovies version, a bit over controlling of an application for my liking so will be nice to move on, I've been using mediabrowser with great success and much less active management than mymovies... so I applaud the effort!
