Moving TV directory, Properties File

With 6.x and previous versions on my WHS box, I had the recording a on drive outside of the pool. Now that version 7 supposedly has mitigated the need for 128k chunks I want to move that batch of files into the pool and get rid of non-pool drive. Therefore, will this work:
  1. Stop Sage
  2. Put a new directory in the pool for the recordings
  3. Copy the recordings there
  4. Rename the old directory to something random
  5. Restart Sage
  6. Change the recording directory to the new server directory
  7. ....
  8. Profit?

Thanks in advance.

Don't do number 4 yet. You want Sage to be able to see the old directory and register that the files no longer exist there. After everything is moved and all the paths on the recordings have the new path then do whatever you want with the old directory.

So, the better method would be to
  1. Add the new directory on the server
  2. Add the new recording directory to sage
  3. Shutdown Sage
  4. Move (not just copy) the files
  5. Start sage
  6. Remove the old directory

That's what I would do. And I would wait for the last step until you confirm the paths have been updated.

Nuts, it only partially worked on mine. Located about 1/2 of the recordings that were moved.

Have you checked in archived recordings? When moved I quite often find them in archived recordings. Always find them there if I move to an imported directory rather than a recording directory.
