How can I use a mapped drive for recordings?

I have a bunch on recorded shows on another system. I have mapped a drive letter "z" to the system\recordings directory. But when I try to set this location in the sage setup for the recording location it doesn't let mew see the drive letter. I only can see the local drive letter. So I tried typing in \\systemname\drive letter$\recordings , but that won't work either.

How do use a location on another system for recordings.

Thanks

Go to the PC and share out the folder. (Not the drive.) By default the share name will be the folder name. Now you should be able to \\systemname\share like \\MAIN\Recorded TV.

I did, still wont work. When I'm adding the recording location under the recoding directories in setup. I choose "specify location" and I type in \\epo\ recordings. This is the actual system name and share. But I can get to it just fine on the sage server by doing a start-run and typing it in.

Am I missing something?

Are you doing Advanced Sharing? Are the PCs in the same Workgroup? Does the user ID that you run Sage with exist on the other PC?

The sagetv service runs with the local system account. The user id I user is the same on all my systems and is in the admin group on all systems. I can open the share just fine from the sage server by doing a start-run.

The share is on a 2003 server and everyone and my main account have full permissions.

"LocalSystem" means just that. It has access to the local system only, not to the network. For the service to access network resources, it must log in as a user with appropriate network permissions.
