Recording conflict questions

We missed a recording last night due to conflict. We had scheduled a manual recording which overlapped a couple favorites and I didn't know about it until after the fact. So I have some questions:

1) Is it possible for Sage to send a text message or something to alert me if there is a recording conflict? Is the mobile web interface good for this? I have an iPhone.

2) Is it possible to set Sage so Favorites take precedence over Manual recordings? We seem to prefer it that way.

Thanks

The SageTV UI does show those conflicts (yellow tv set with a red exclamation mark, left of the maximize/minimize icon), though that might require enabling the System Messages/Alerts...

In TiSageTV, the Conflicts are one item from the Information section...

Alerts do show up in the Mobile Web interface, at the very top. You should see them on your iPhone. I see them on my iPod touch.

As for automatically sending messages outside of the interface, I'll let someone else answer that...

The SageAlert plugin can send email and/or text messages when conflicts arise (and on many other conditions as well).

If you want your Manual recording to have lower priority than some Favorite, don't make it a Manual. Make it a Keyword Favorite using the ShowID of the show you want to record, and then set the Favorite priorities appropriately. This will also allow Sage to reschedule it to a different airing if one exists.

Thanks all for your response.

We do have alerts turned on in the Sage UI, but I want a way to know about this conflict without bringing up the UI (i.e. alerts). Looks like TiSageTV is $30, but I'm not sure I want to spend that.

I'll try out the mobile web interface as well as the SageAlert. It looks like the Web UI is required for SageAlert. Also, the Keyword Favorite is a good idea, but I'll have to try it out and see what the WAF is on that.

Actually it's not. Both SageAlert and the Web UI run on top of Jetty, but you don't need the Web UI to run SageAlert (which has its own web interface).

In any case, you don't need to manually install any prerequisites. Just install the plugin(s) you want, and any dependencies will be installed automatically.
