Satellite not working with encrypted channels

So I got my satellite card working finally back in around November with SageTV.

The card is a TechnoTrend S2-3200 and it has an add on CI interface for handling smart cards.

Now the channels that I subscribed to were unencrypted at the time I setup my card because they were going through an upgrade to a new satellite transponder, but ow finally they shipped out smart cards and activated encryption.

The smart card is an irdeto card and I got it activated on the normal external receiver box they gave me, but when I swapped it over to my computer, plugging it into my TechnoTrend CI slot the channels come up in SageTV as "No Signal".

What could be wrong?

Am I supposed to activate the smart card while it is plugged into my computer, instead of the receiver?

I wish I had better diagnostics on this card

I have some updates on this:

I managed to find my TechnoTrend CD and using it was able to install TT-Viewer among other goodies like some CAM diagnostic tool.

The Viewer was no help to me because it doesnt have my satellite configuration - I guess I will need to learn how to edit that manually.

The CAM diagnostic tool whatever it is called seems useful though. Using it I can confirm that the PCI device is detecting the SmartCard in the slot, it is correctly identifying it as an Irdeto card and even can get info on the card such as it's ID. So all in all it seems that the card is recognized and no errors reported by this tool.

But still when I go into SageTV and try to access one of the restricted channels, it says No Signal.
