I'm noticing a big drop in my signal as well...From 90% to 50% on the same antenna without any adjustments.

Is this the general symptom of a bad PS?

Either that, or the leaves are sprouting on the trees around your antenna.

(Seriously though - how long have you had your current setup operating? Through a Spring/Summer previously?)

For about $10, it might make sense to purchase one and try it out. If it solves your signal strength problem, terrific! If not, you've got a spare on hand for when your current power supply starts having problems.

Found one in the home with output of 5vdc @2.5a

My understanding of electronics is that it should be ok, since that is what the adapter is capable of providing not necessarily what is being outputted. If the HDHR attempts to use 2.5amps it would get that much.

You guys agree it's ok to try?

Your understanding is correct. The other thing that you need to verify is that the barrel connector that plugs into the HDHR is the correct size and polarity: the dimensions should be 5.5mm x 2.5mm x 12.0mm, and the polarity is + in the center, - (or ground) for the outside ring.

If you google on the model number of the power supply that you found, you will probably find that information.

Thanks no biggie...

I'll cut off the original connector and solder it on.

Thanks! I'll report back if it fixes my signal issues...

I've been using Sony PSP power supplies for a couple of years now. Here's a link to the last supplier I purchased from only $4.74 each, and you do not have to change the power end, just plug them in. Buy one locally at game stop to get you going, then buy a couple from the link below.

They are coming from China, but I had them in under a week which I could not believe. I run 2 HDHR's and used to lose the silicon dust power supplies about once a year. Since going to the Sony it's about every two years. I keep two on hand just in case. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SONY-PSP...item45fad4ec5c
