HDHR Prime (w/ SageDCT) & Live TV?

Anytime I try and watch "live" tv from my hdhr prime sage hangs and it takes a 'reboot' to bring things back to normal.

While it's hanging, the filesize of the .ts file shows 0 bytes...after the reboot, there's data there--sometimes it's playable sometimes it isn't..

Any ideas? Is this a "known issue" that i've just never hit before (since I seldom watch live tv?)

My Specs:
HDHR Prime w/ firmware: 20130413beta1
Sagedct vers. 2.6.0.0
OS: Win7 professional

The only settings that are checked are "static tuners" and "log stats" (vlc options are not checked, nor are 'write async')

Could the problem be that I need the modified demux libraries? Or is that not needed anymore?

What Firmware and Version are you on the HDHomerun? I have the latest Homerun Beta and most recent SageDCT and have no problems watching livetv. My service provider is Comcast.

I've got the latest beta (20130413beta1)...it's doubtful, but could my graphics card have something to do with it? My provider is optimum (cablevision)...which log files would (could?) show information about what the problem may be?

Did you try the VLC option in SageDCT.? Also you might want to try the LAV filters there was a fix concerning the SageTV demuxer a while back.

So recording playback works OK and live TV using QuickTV also works?

I turned on the VLC option in sagedct, but that didn't help.

And yes, recording works well (except for an issue w/ the time bar when I use placeshifter -- http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60295 ), and live tv works with QuickTV

What should I try next?

Thanks!

I just tried something slightly different...in the ConfigureSageDCT tool under "test" tab

1. I set the channel to '767' (one of the HD channels)
2. Chose the 'START' command
3. then Pressed 'SEND'

Regardless of what channel I chose, the sagedct config tool would just hang--just like sage!

I verified that the HD channel does display in the QuickTV program...

Does this mean that the problem lies SageDCT (or some library/function) it's using? Or is this just a coincidence?

Is there something I should reinstall?

Has anybody tried the latest SageDCT beta? Would it solve this issue? Should I call my cable company?

I don't think the latest SageDCT beta would help - even if you could get it. Andy doesn't appear to be dulling out access to version 2.7.2 anymore.

That fact that the channel is visible on Quick TV would indicate that there is a problem with your setup.

If I were in your situation, I'd install SageDCT again (and possibly SageTV) making sure to place all the correct info SageDCT creates into SageTV Properties files.

Don't use the VLC option unless you get something working first. That option helps on some channels, but it's not always needed. If/when you do use the VLC option use drive letters for the recording directories in SageTV - NOT UNCs.

Make sure you do option #7 correctly (Assignments.txt file).

I think donating to Andy gets you access to 2.7.2. There's a button on his web site.

I didn't know there was even an option to donate. I'll do that.
I would have given up on SageTV a long time ago without his SageDCT.

thanks, john
