Strange Mouse Behavior

When I use my mouse to go through the menus, something times out after about 10-15 seconds and takes me back to the main menu no matter where I am. If I use the remove to navigate this does not happen. Found this behavior when I was trying to edit the channel lineup. Anyone know why this is happening? Is there something to turn on or off to stop this? Thanks,
