would love to, but without a google fiber system to connect it to, there's no way to even snoop what needs to be said back and forth.

My building's fiber install is just getting finished up - should be finished sometime next week. Then I schedule actual install so as soon as that's up and running I will report back. I'll need instruction from you guys on what you need me to do to investigate.

I'll try to come up with the best protocol to use for testing it out. The goal is to capture the traffic between the tablet/phone and the google storage box (sage server).

Of course, Jeff could 'accidentally' leak all the information we are looking for and make things a lot easier... I promise anything I figure out I'll let him use in his non-google fiber SageTV7 household... :-)

That would be very helpful. I need the "for dummies" version of course.

I'm sure he would LOVE to help, but the whole job thing will likely keep him out of it.

Brent, man, with all the build-up and the fact you're the only frequently-active person here on this forum who is in KC who is getting it... you're going to be a busy guy trying to report everything that everyone here wants to know. I hope you scheduled some time off of work so you can focus on this.

Time is the one thing that I don't have a lot of. I have tons of vacation time built up, but not a lot of time to use it.

However, I do plan to devote some time to messing around with Google Fiber when it finally gets installed in my loft. The contractors installing the main lines through our building are supposed to be finished today - finally. So my wait continues but hopefully soon.

pretty long and still waiting to be able to schedule my actual install. They finally finished the cabling throughout our loft/condo building yesterday and should be testing today or early next week. After that I'll get an e-mail inviting me to schedule the actual install in my loft where they run the line to my network cabinet and set up my network & TV boxes - then I'll actually have Google Fiber.

I plan to detail my experience thus far soon on www.geektonic.com Hopefully can start doing that this weekend.
