Xbox or PS4, who's getting one?

Inquiring minds want to know. (Although, do active Sage'rs even use a PS, or do folks stick with Xbox for the XBMC bit).

Post your reviews somewhere, I just got a 106" screen and a 1080p projector, and my kids are now 12 & 9 so I don't have to wait on them hand & foot. A combo gaming/media console is (hopefully) in my future! (Now if I could only figure out how to classify that as a reasonable business expense and deduct it from my 1099 income :-)

PS4 - the original intent of always on Kinect and Microsoft patents around seeing who's watching a little too Orwellian for me.

http://www.techdirt.com/articles/201...dmission.shtml

I also don't like the removal of XBox Live family pass.

I've got an Xbone coming. Regarding Kinect, it doesn't even have to be connected:
http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/08/...ct-to-function

As for the Family Pass, if you've only got one Xbone then it's moot since one Gold Membership covers all accounts on your Xbone.

I'm not sure what XBMC thing you're talking about IVB, I don't think XMBC has run on any Xbox but the original. And if you mean Windows Media Center, the Xbone doesn't have that.

I was thinking the xbone (the improved kinect sensor will be great for kids games), but I think I'm going to hold off for a little before deciding. The whole Call of Duty resolution difference has made me a little nervous (i.e., its rendered at 1080p on the PS4 but only as upscaled 720p on xbone). http://kotaku.com/activision-confirm...sol-1455181795

Interesting fact about that. There is actually a day one patch that makes Call of Duty 1080p on the PS4. It was 720p in pre-release. Here's hoping an update comes out for the XBone too.

Xbox One. At least that's what the kids want. I have no use for a console.

There is another article that mentions frame-dropping on the PS4 version of CoD, but none on the Xbone version. So, yea, who knows. I think it takes some time for developers to get comfortable with and optimize their games and game development for each console. In a year, I'm sure the graphics on both systems will be pretty much the same.

Xbox One because I already have two Xbox360s. (And a Live account)
I like the Kinect voice controls already so better voice control is a plus.
Even without DVR support I am hoping the fast switching will allow easy back and forth between SageTV and the online content like Netflix.

Mostly doing PC Gaming these days but will need a few classic Xbox fixes like Halo and Forza. Still think there is potential in Kinect for gaming now that it is standard. (And I don't care if the NSA can see me in my living room)

Sony seems to only be offering better graphics over the PS3. I get better graphics from my 3 27" monitors Gaming PC.

Yeah, for me it's Forza. I might have got a PS4 if GT6 were available, but I just like Forza better. Now I need to figure out a wheel.

My kids have recently started getting into some of the Kinect games like Disneyland Adventure and Just Dance. The improved Kinect sensor in the XboxOne should help to improve these games a lot.

As I said, the original intent of Kinect and the "vision" of Microsoft. We're a multiple XBox 360 family currently and making the switch.

Xbone is what I went with also. Forza is just too cool.

I'm just disappointed there's no Fanatec wheel yet, and no "affordable" alternative.

So, no backward compatibility? Sad since I spent so much on my fanatec wheel and stand.

Last thing I saw was a mention from them that the accessories would work with whatever wheel they come out with for the One, but no, no Xbox 360 accessories work with the One.

Man I could not agree with you more! It's a tough choice, but, for me it comes down to that.

FORZA 5, looks to be AWESOME!

Wow, there are a lot of mad gamers on the xbox forums complaining about the lack of backward compatibility with the Fanatec wheels. Apparently the Fanatec Forza wheels will work on the PS4, which is messed up. Funny, I don't remember my CSR model being compatible with the PS3, but their website says that it is. I'm hoping that someone will create an adapter so the old controllers/wheels will work.

Can you blame them, those wheels can cost a bundle, and to have to layout for the console and the game and the new wheel, is ~1k in some cases, not to mention the custom add-ons some people do.
