Why would they add newer drivers to the capture software before making them a beta as a standalone version? I really don't understand Hauppauge sometimes.

Because 31319 for the new HD PVR Rocket
Here are the versions:
- version 31248 is the current production release and is on the HD PVR 2, Installation CD
- version 31312 is a beta release to support multi-track audio recording
- version 31319 is for the HD PVR 2 and the Rocket

From what I was told, the 31319 will replace the 31312 this week.
Sound like pretesting to me.
I'm sure they post the driver as standalone.

Any recent news about a driver fix for this no-sound issue?

My PVR1 croaked (started to output horrible quality video), so replaced it with a PVR2 (gaming edition because that's all I could find in my area). I applied the "fix" from another thread, but also suffer the no audio problem.

Out of curiosity, would using a optical audio cable rather than the RCA connections yield any different results regarding this audio issue?

Based on this thread (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...hlight=hd-pvr2), no sound w/PVR2 is a pretty wide-spread issue.
