HD100 Problems

I have a system with the following specs.

Intel Core i3-4130 CPU @ 3.40 GHz
16.0 GB RAM
Windows 8.1 64 bit

SageTV V7.1.9.256
Java Version 1.8.0_31
JVM Heap Size (U/T/M) 137mb/228mb/1038mb

My system has two HD-100s and two HD-200s. The HD-200s work perfectly, no problems. The HD-100s are both exhibiting exactly the same two issues on a regular basis. My HD-100s are both using Firmware 20100212 0

1) If I pause a video for more than about 10-20 minutes, when I come back and hit play it only plays about 10 more seconds (presumably whatever was buffered) and then freezes completely and requires a hard reboot.
2) Whenever a video finishes playing and it dumps me back out to the folder view to navigate to the next video, navigation is unusably slow. Button presses can take upwards of a minute to register, or just not register at all.

The slow navigation appears to have something to do with Thumbnails. I've got it set so that it only shows one thumbnail at a time (instead of the default 4). I've used BMT to make sure that there are thumbnail files in the folder, and I've replaced a thumbnail file with an unrelated image and verified that the images being shown on the extender are the actual jpgs in the file. The TV season right now has the same thumbnail for every episode, and it's a 231kB file.

Any ideas?
