Maybe this has to do with how you're determining that something is video content? The theme I'm seeing is that TV shows are consistently showing up with the video logo, but movies are not.
Thanks, I'll have a look this weekend.

At one point, in another thread I believe, I had asked about whether you could create an interface for setting up PlayLater recordings. I thought someone else posted info on that and it was fairly straightforward. While I realize that doing this now would kinda make your work on this plugin a waste... PlayLater does record in HD (since it's not being called from a user agent).

I don't know why I didn't think to ask this before, but what happens if you try to watch a live stream (like WatchESPN)?

That's something to look at. And it still wouldn't be a waste, I do these things because it's fun and sometimes I even learn something

I also hope to expand the plugin to browse more UPnP devices, not just PlayOn.

Right now it will do nothing.

I see what's wrong here. The error happens when I get a combination of Videos and Containers from Cling. It will be fixed in the next version.

Not dead. I haven't had much time to work on it. I also had to fix a few bugs with existing plugins. I'll turn my attention back to this as soon as I can.

Finally found a solution to this problem. In case anybody is ever experiencing this; in order for the file downloader to do progressive playback the extension of the growing file must be .flv or the downloader will not detect its complete size. If you are trying to do progressive playback on .mpg files simply ensure the growing file has a .flv extension.

Thanks for the tip. That sure seems counter-intuitive, considering SageTV is very much used to the idea of .mpg files growing. Does the underlying file need to actually be using a .flv container or does it just need to have .flv for an extension?

It's not a setting, it's in the code.

I'll try to get a new version out in the next couple of days. I'm working out a few more kinks.

I can't say for sure, I'd have to look at the code in the core. There is an API, StartFileDownload() that takes several parameters including source file and destination file. In my case the source file is http://....../name.mpg. If you specify xxxx.mpg as the destination file progressive playback fails. If you specify xxx.flv progressive playback works. I'm not sure what the core does to the stream as it's downloading.

That sounds like the core is changing what it does based solely on extension. I doubt SageTV is remuxing the stream or anything interesting like that. It's starting to look like you've got the basics working which is great to hear.

Yes, the basics of video playback are working. I haven't spent much time on other formats mainly because I don't have many UPnP devices to test with.

What other UPnP devices would it make sense to support?

Maybe someone else can provide a better answer. I really only use UPnP for Playon. OpenDCT uses it to find the InfiniTV devices and that's it. I was using it to tune the devices too, but it's a lot faster to just use the web interface for actual tuning. For me it has no other convenience.

I think some people might find it nice to be able to tap into Kodi via it's UPnP server. I believe that's how they are currently marketing that they have a client-server model.

Do you have example code on how to tune the InfiniTV? I was thinking about tuning the HDHomeRun.

It might also be interesting to turn Sage into a UPnP server. I'm not a Kodi user but I image it would make it easy to play Sage content on Kodi without going through a lot of hassle to get the metadata to work.
