HD-300 IR Options?

I would like to place two HD-300 devices in the same line of sight. Is there a way to specify an alternate command set for the infrared receiver? I assume these boxes are running a variant of Linux, so a firmware change should be able to provide this functionality.

Any ideas on this?

No alternate command set that I know of. But once you connect up to a server you can use any other RC5 protocol remote with your HD300 I believe. You just have to program it in once you connect up to a server. So except for turning it on and connecting to a server you can probably do it without updating the firmware. If you have the HD300 auto connect you only have to turn it on.

Wow. You are correct. I did not know this. This effectively makes the HD-300's receiver as flexible as that of the USB-UIRT. I would assume that one could even de-program the default remote's codes.

This is great "news" and will be a big help for me ...

Of course the other solution is to use something with IR emttiers that are connected directly to the HD300s. You could probably do this with a Logitech Harmony SmartHub but I am not 100% sure.

I have a couple of setups with controlled IR, but this would not be one of them, I don't know what the Logitech product is, but a really cost-effective solution is the six-emitter unit from BAFX Products. The product works flawlessly and can be powered by a usb port or hub. In fact, the one I have in use is powered by the USB port of an HD-300 ...
