playback of h.264 mpg 4 in Sage Server....

Is there some reason this doesn't work? I've got a bunch of mpg4 h.264 files that play fine via a HD200 or HD300, but won't show up using Sage Server software. Just a black screen.
What am I missing - do I need a codec installed on my W10 installation?

If you did not install any codec/filters, then yes, on Windows 10, you do need to install something.

Can you play the file(s) on the Sage Server outside of Sage? Using the built in Windows 10 video player (I forget what it is being called now).

If you installed LAV filters then you may need to adjust the configuration, either in Sage or LAV (maybe both).

Thanks, will look into the lavs. One thing I noticed is that because my library is so large, spread across several drives, it seems Sage Server takes a while to respond to certain files, especially larger ones (when I had this problem today, it was a single, 11gb file being accessed). It may be a combination of things…

Are your hard drives set to spin down after some amount of inactivity?
This is a Windows power management setting.

Nope, system should be live 24/7. The most likely reason is errors in the files, but it’s not always easy to fix them all…
